A cool winter with average\u003cbr\u003erainfalls set the scene for the 2019 vintage. Rainfall across\u003cbr\u003ethe Coonawarra encouraged the growth of healthy\u003cbr\u003eCabernet Sauvignon canopies and set the vines up\u003cbr\u003ewell for summer ripening. Summer was full of sunshine\u003cbr\u003eand dry weather, yields were slightly below average.\u003cbr\u003eThe famous Bonney upwelling played its part, cooling\u003cbr\u003esummer temperatures; producing Cabernet that is deep\u003cbr\u003eand rich in colour with great varietal definition.\u003cbr\u003eBarossa: The cool winter of 2018 combined with lighter\u003cbr\u003ethan average rainfall set the scene for the 2019 vintage.\u003cbr\u003eThis mild and dry weather through the growing season\u003cbr\u003eproduced grapes with great flavour and concentration.\u003cbr\u003eSummer was full of sunshine and dry weather which\u003cbr\u003ewas great for ripening the grapes. The resulting\u003cbr\u003eBarossa reds are a wonderful expression of fruit\u003cbr\u003evibrancy and drinkability.\u003cbr\u003eT E R R O I R \/ P R O V E N A N C E \/ R E G I O N\u003cbr\u003eThe Ming D block in the Yalumba Coonawarra vineyard\u003cbr\u003eprovides the 77% Cabernet Sauvignon of this blend.\u003cbr\u003eThis 2.7 ha plot was planted in 1992 with two clones of\u003cbr\u003eCabernet Sauvignon selected for structure and depth of\u003cbr\u003eflavour. The Caley’s 23% Shiraz component was sourced\u003cbr\u003efrom two Barossa blocks. The first block is the Crown\u003cbr\u003eVillage, Schrapel old shiraz block. located along the\u003cbr\u003eTanunda foothills near Krondorf about 4 km south of\u003cbr\u003ethe Tanunda township. The second from the Horseshoe\u003cbr\u003eVineyard on the southern side of the Yalumba winery in\u003cbr\u003eEden Valley.
