This wine is from biodynamically grown, low yielding centenarian vines\u003cbr\u003e\nplanted in 1919. In the shadow of the Light Pass Immanuel Lutheran Church steeple, the roots\u003cbr\u003e\nof these old vines run deep into the ancient Barossa soils, yielding intensely flavored Shiraz\u003cbr\u003e\ngrapes to create a wine of richness, texture, concentration and length.\u003cbr\u003e\nSourced from Yalumba’s Steeple vineyard at Light Pass on the Barossa Valley floor, this old\u003cbr\u003e\nblock of Shiraz was planted in 1919 on its own roots in fine, sandy loam, red-brown earth. This\u003cbr\u003e\nsoil is well drained and consists of a marked contrast in texture between the surface soil and\u003cbr\u003e\nthe subsoil. The 1.34 hectare vineyard sits at an elevation of 280 meters above sea level. The old\u003cbr\u003e\nvines, planted at 3-meter spacings in north south rows are trained with 4 rods on two wires\u003cbr\u003e\nwhich ensures an even distribution of bunches along the trellis. Matured for 15 months in 20%\u003cbr\u003e\nnew French oak barriques, balance in older French oak barriques.\u003cbr\u003e\nT A S T I N G N O T E S\u003cbr\u003e\nThe nose is immersed in blueberries and plums leading into very inviting red spices,\u003cbr\u003e\ncranberries and pomegranate.
