We didn’t have the\u003cbr\u003e\nideal meteorological conditions to indicate it was\u003cbr\u003e\ngoing to be a great year so we were really pleased\u003cbr\u003e\nwith the beautiful grapes that came into the winery.\u003cbr\u003e\nThe winter and spring was dry with little rain. Stable\u003cbr\u003e\nweather allowed for good flowering so production\u003cbr\u003e\nwas always forecast to be abundant (good news\u003cbr\u003e\nafter two relatively small years). The summer was\u003cbr\u003e\nhot. There was little rain and few storms, apart from\u003cbr\u003e\na huge one in May. So by August the vines were\u003cbr\u003e\nunder intense water stress and their leaves were\u003cbr\u003e\nbrowning – especially younger vines with shallower\u003cbr\u003e\nroots. But the good news was that the fruit stood up\u003cbr\u003e\nwell to this stress so that almost perfect grape came\u003cbr\u003e\ninto the winery. The vintage was long and slow.\u003cbr\u003e\nLA ROSA\u003cbr\u003e\nDOURO ESTATE\u003cbr\u003e\nWHITE 2019\u003cbr\u003e\nJorge always says that the most important decision\u003cbr\u003e\nhe makes every year is when to pick and this year\u003cbr\u003e\nwasn’t that easy. We started picking the white grapes\u003cbr\u003e\nearly, in the middle of August. Jorge is extremely\u003cbr\u003e\npleased with the white wines this year.\u003cbr\u003e\nTASTING NOTES:\u003cbr\u003e\nThe terroir in the Douro is still largely unexplored\u003cbr\u003e\nand by making wines with, harmony and equilibrium\u003cbr\u003e\nfrom our vineyards, we try to enable the grapes to\u003cbr\u003e\nexpress themselves in the bottle. The La Rosa style\u003cbr\u003e\nis to make well defined wines without too much\u003cbr\u003e\nextraction, tannin or oak. The La Rosa white has a\u003cbr\u003e\nvery perfumed nose with citric and floral aromas. On\u003cbr\u003e\nthe palate the wine is quite full bodied, very soft and\u003cbr\u003e\nseductive. It is an intense wine, full of flavor without\u003cbr\u003e\nany excesses, very beautiful and balanced with a\u003cbr\u003e\nlong, fresh finish at the end.\u003cbr\u003e\nQUALITY \u0026amp; ENVIRONMENT:\u003cbr\u003e\nWe practice a sustainable agricultural regime being\u003cbr\u003e\npart of ADVID \u0026amp; SATIVA. We don’t use genetically\u003cbr\u003e\nmodified organisms nor do we use animal products\u003cbr\u003e\nso vegetarians can drink our wines. We recycle\u003cbr\u003e\nwhere possible and are HACCP \u0026amp; BRC rated.\u003cbr\u003e\nSERVING SUGGESTIONS:\u003cbr\u003e\nThis white wine is ready for drinking now. Serve\u003cbr\u003e\nchilled as an excellent refreshing aperitif.
