This bottling of Sauvignon Blanc\u003cbr\u003e\nshowcases the best of this variety as it expresses itself in Washington State.\u003cbr\u003e\nVINEYARDS\u003cbr\u003e\nStillwater Creek, McNary, Rosebud, Coyote Canyon, Gamache, Estate Seven Hills\u003cbr\u003e\nVINTAGE\u003cbr\u003e\nThe 2024 growing season was healthy and moderately warm, allowing vines to recover\u003cbr\u003e\nfrom winter cold better than expected, resulting in normal yields in most locations. A\u003cbr\u003e\nwarm spring and hot summer were followed by nearly perfect harvest weather, with\u003cbr\u003e\ntemperatures cooling as harvest began. The prolonged hang time led to exceptional fruit\u003cbr\u003e\nquality, with wonderful balance, crisp acidity, and robust fruit expression.\u003cbr\u003e\nA mid-January freeze event brought sub-zero temperatures for an extended number of\u003cbr\u003e\ndays. With no inversion, higher elevation sites showed a surprising level of bud damage.\u003cbr\u003e\nMost growers pruned to leave extra buds.\u003cbr\u003e\nThe warm, dry spring helped resilient vines rebound, pushing more buds than expected.\u003cbr\u003e\nAdditional pruning and aggressive shoot thinning were necessary. A slightly cooler May\u003cbr\u003e\nextended the period from bud break to bloom. Near-perfect weather during bloom set a\u003cbr\u003e\nhealthy crop, though some sites exposed to lower temperatures had reduced yields.\u003cbr\u003e\nSummer was dry and hot, with two weeks over 100°F. Veraison was delayed due to\u003cbr\u003e\nexcess heat shutting vines down. Congested canopies required increased leaf-pulling to\u003cbr\u003e\navoid shading.\u003cbr\u003e\nCool September evenings allowed for great hang time, with a steady and even harvest\u003cbr\u003e\npace.
