Most of the vines are over 45 years old and are a mix of heritage Zinfandel clones.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWinemaker Notes\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLava Cap is regarded as one of the premier Zinfandel producers in the Sierra Foothills. The 2022 Zinfandel reflects Lava Caps’ goal of creating wines that have ample concentrations and depth, but also expectational balance. Rather than the jammy and brambly flavors so often associated with this grape, this wine shows elegance, with vivid red fruits, great acidity, and moderate tannins. All hallmarks of high elevation expressions of this grapes. The wines balance and brightness make it perfect for Tri-Tip, hamburgers, or Italian food. The grapes are handpicked at moderate sugars and fermented in stainless steel.
