Fermented and raised about ten months in neutral French oak, it's built for freshness — green apple and pear lifted by a saline, high-acid snap. Organically farmed from sites just a few miles off the Pacific.

Winery: Drew Family Cellars

Drew Family Cellars was founded in 2000 by Jason and Molly Drew, with Jason — trained in viticulture at UC Santa Cruz and in oenology at the University of Adelaide — as owner and winemaker. In 2004 the couple bought a former dry-farmed apple orchard perched around 1,250 feet on a ridgetop in the Mendocino Ridge appellation, with Anderson Valley falling away to the east and the Pacific just three miles to the west, and built their estate winery there the following year. Theirs remains the only bonded estate winery within the Mendocino Ridge AVA, and they round out the estate fruit with cool-climate lots from Anderson Valley and other far-coastal Mendocino sites. Farming is certified organic and regenerative, and the cellar work is deliberately hands-off — native-yeast fermentations, whole-cluster use, hand punch-downs and neutral French oak — all in service of taut, site-driven Pinot Noir, Syrah and Chardonnay.
