The family domaine was founded in 1925 by Pierre Gelin and is today in the hands\u003cbr\u003eof Pierre’s grandson, Pierre-Emmanuel. Pierre-Emmanuel farms organically and works to\u003cbr\u003eminimize the impact on the environment in both vineyard and cellar.\u003cbr\u003eThe family owns 32 acres in total including parcels in five Fixin premier crus and the monopole\u003cbr\u003eof Clos Napoléon. In 1961 Pierre also purchased vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin including the\u003cbr\u003emonopole Clos de Meixvelle, Clos Prieur 1er cru, and the Grand Cru Clos de Bèze.\u003cbr\u003eLes Hervelets is one of two premier crus in Fixin that are not monopoles, the other being Les\u003cbr\u003eArvelets. The two vineyards lie side by side at the top of the slope with a bit higher content of\u003cbr\u003emarl in the soil. Les Arvelets may be sold as Les Hervelets, but not vice versa.
