In this battle, the French re-conquered\u003cbr\u003ethe neighboring Château Latour from the English, a crucial point for ending the 300 year long\u003cbr\u003ereign of the English in Aquitaine. The vineyards spread out over 57 hectares with the average\u003cbr\u003evine age being 40 years old. The soil is silica and gravel, but the heart of the vineyard is on a\u003cbr\u003edeep gravel bed over a subsoil of clay and sandstone. There are also some parcels located in\u003cbr\u003ebetween Château Latour and Pichon Lalande.\u003cbr\u003eT A S T I N G N O T E S\u003cbr\u003eAfter a brief cold soak and the use of selected yeasts, the must is fermented in stainless steel\u003cbr\u003evats, with a very traditional vinification.\u003cbr\u003eF O O D P A I R I N G\u003cbr\u003eBatailley is a classic and very typical Pauillac, with cassis and currant flavors and a very firm\u003cbr\u003estructure. Dark ruby\/purple in appearance Chateau Batailley strikes the nose with classic\u003cbr\u003earomas of red and black currant along with cedar and earth.
